OPTIMIZING YOUR FLOAT
~AVOID SHAVING PRIOR TO YOUR FLOAT
Cuts on your skin will sting due to the epsom salt and can be distracting. Avoid shaving at least 24 hours before your float. If you have any small cuts, lesions or sensitive skin areas, Vaseline may be applied before entering your float to counter this.
~CONTACT LENSES or SENSITIVE EYES?
If you wear contact lenses, you may want to remove them before your float, this will increase your eye comfort. If so, please bring a lens case and solution. Visine or whichever eyedrops you use if you have sensitive eyes for afterwards.
~HYDRATION AND EATING
Staying hydrated is beneficial for maintaining great health, as well as for when you’re floating. This will help your body fully relax and heal. Avoid eating a large meal before you float. Your body will have a more relaxing experience when it is not concentrating on digesting foods. If possible, eat a light and healthy meal 1-2 hours before your float. If you’ve had a large meal, try to allow 3-4 hours before you float.
~WASHROOM
Avoid any potential distractions during your float and be sure to go to the washroom pre-float for optimal relaxation.
~BEING ACTIVE
Yoga, massage, exercise, jogging, training or sporting activities accompany your float well. The muscles will be loose and the blood flow assists with the repair of tissues. Because your body will be using up excess energy, it will then naturally fall into a deeper state of relaxation and/or meditation while in your float. At London Float Therapy, we offer RMT services as well, which we encourage our clients to try out alongside their float. Your body will thank you for this unreal experience. Your insurance provider may cover Hydrotherapy.
~DISTRACTORS: STIMULANTS & CAFFEINE
The idea of floating is to minimize stimulation and trigger the “relaxation state”. Stimulants such as caffeine, even nicotine will bring adverse effects to your float.
We also reserve the right to refuse any client(s) we feel to be intoxicated or under the influence.
