WHAT IS FLOATING?

Also known as: sensory deprivation or R.E.S.T. (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy), floatation therapy is a unique way of allowing yourself to let go of all your senses; essentially putting your body at its most optimal resting and healing state. It turns out that when your body is not fighting gravity or taking in information, it has a lot of extra resources available at its disposal. It is a wonderful way to pause the hectic, stressful world that we at times live in, and enter a deep state of mental and physical relaxation. It is in this state that your mind and body will have the chance to recharge, rest and heal; as well as gain renewed energy and growth.

HOW IT WORKS

Floatation therapy involves lying in a salt-water solution inside a spacious tank(pod) or room.  The 1,000 pounds of epsom salt in the water takes care of the gravity our bodies are constantly subjected to, and allows for our body to float atop the water effortlessly.

The water is more dense than the Dead Sea and kept at the skin-receptor neutral temperature of 93.5 degrees.  After some time, a sensation will takeover your body in which you lose track of where your body ends and the water begins.  Your ears stay just below the water as you lie in silence taking in the nothingness.  Slowly the outside world is gone and you indulge in amazing things during this state of complete relaxation.

Your mind is free to escape life’s pressures and stresses without distraction — your brain pumps out endorphins and dopamines, affectively allowing your body to do incredible things.  It is likely to be the most relaxing thing your body will ever experience.
